This photo is one of the most powerful moments I’ve witnessed in grassroots football.
I took it in Kebbi, Northern Nigeria.
Two boys.
Two very different worlds.
One arrived barefoot, wearing dirty clothes, a single flip-flop and a broken boot he had probably found somewhere. His ball? An old can.
The other came properly equipped, football shirt, boots, ready to play.
2 very different planets. But for a few minutes, none of that mattered.
No social status.
No difference in background.
Just two kids competing, smiling, improvising, creating a game out of nothing.
For those minutes, they were on the same planet.
Planet Football.

Coaches - quick question about decision making at youth level…
You probably recognise these two players in your team:
⚽ The player who always passes - even when they should take the defender on.
⚽ The player who always dribbles - even when a simple pass or one-two would put someone through on goal.
Both players are just going to their default habit.
But the real challenge for coaches is helping them learn when to pass and when to dribble.
So here’s the question 👇
How do you coach players to make better decisions instead of just defaulting to their habit?
