This photo is one of the most powerful moments I’ve witnessed in grassroots football.
I took it in Kebbi, Northern Nigeria.
Two boys.
Two very different worlds.
One arrived barefoot, wearing dirty clothes, a single flip-flop and a broken boot he had probably found somewhere. His ball? An old can.
The other came properly equipped, football shirt, boots, ready to play.
2 very different planets. But for a few minutes, none of that mattered.
No social status.
No difference in background.
Just two kids competing, smiling, improvising, creating a game out of nothing.
For those minutes, they were on the same planet.
Planet Football.
