Football development at the grassroots received a major boost today in Machakos County as the FKF Youth Representative visited Kasinga Primary School and Kyanguli Primary School, delivering footballs under the international FIFA for Schools initiative. Each school was handed five quality footballs to aid in training and preparations for the upcoming Term Two Ball Games.
This project is part of a broader effort by FKF to develop football from the ground up by equipping schools with basic yet essential resources. The initiative recognizes that nurturing talent must begin early—right in the school compounds where most players take their first kick.
The administration from both schools warmly welcomed the gesture, with the Deputy Head Teachers praising the FKF Machakos Branch for its commitment to uplifting young players. “This partnership between FKF and schools is not just about equipment. It’s about giving our learners opportunities, encouraging their dreams, and teaching them values that will guide them for life,” one deputy head teacher said.
The FKF Youth Rep also took the opportunity to commend the two schools for their open-door policy in allowing community football teams to use their grounds for training and hosting local tournaments. “These school fields have become more than just play areas—they are community assets. By welcoming local teams, these schools are contributing to the growth of football across all age groups,” he noted.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between federations, schools, and communities. When institutions come together with a shared vision, the results are transformative. Such partnerships enable early talent discovery and mentorship, maximize the use of existing infrastructure such as school fields, build stronger community bonds through shared goals and interaction, impart values like discipline, teamwork, and leadership to learners, and lay the foundation for long-term football excellence in Kenya.
The FKF Machakos Branch, through the FIFA for Schools program, is not only distributing balls—it is igniting passion, unlocking dreams, and building bridges between schools and the wider footballing world.
Today’s gesture is a small step with a big impact—proof that when we invest in young people, we invest in the future of football.
