I gave everything I had to the game. Just about sold my soul to the sport. It was all I wanted, it was all I pursued. I got real good at it and took every chance I could get. I ended up signing three pro contracts and a TON of amateur contracts in my teens and twenties.
At the same time in my late 20s I started a family and found myself a husband and father of two beautiful girls. Struggling to make ends meet. Bouncing from job to job rarely around the game anymore and 30+ pounds overweight. I felt I had nothing more to give to the game. And I was right. But I still had more to give to God, others, and myself.
Then I turned 30. And God showed me that I still had the gifts and talents He gave me and that I developed over the years. And that soccer is not meant to be something I give myself and my life to, but rather an incredible tool I can use to build an incredible life for myself and others.
I like to say “Soccer is the tool, not the project”. I stay in shape and fit now because God keeps opening doors for me to keep using this beautiful worldwide game to impact people’s life’s and to show them there is hope. To tell them and remind them that God made you with a purpose and He has great plans for you and your life.
Soccer and sports in general do not have to be a “pro or nothing” mindset. There is so much more to it if you allow yourself and your plans to be controlled and guided by God. Let Him direct your life and path and He will surprise you with what can be built if you keep using the tools He has given you.
God bless you guys. Thanks for reading. 🙏🏼🫱🏽🫲🏼💯⚽️
