Humla Football Academy

@Humlafootball

A football dream in the arms of the mountains...

The attention of the whole world, including Nepal, is focused on the World Cup football being held in Qatar. On the other hand, the children of Humla, a Himalayan district of Karnali Province, dream of becoming footballers and are undergoing football training in minus degree temperatures. That too at the Humla Football Academy located at an altitude of 2910 meters above sea level.

The capital Simikot is naturally beautiful. Tourists come every year to see the scenery surrounded by mountains. Humla is naturally beautiful and has many sorrows. It is not a good idea to increase football activities in Humla, which has geographical difficulties, when sports activities cannot flourish in well-equipped places. But from the year 2077, under the leadership of Bishnu Rawat, children are taking training with the dream of becoming a footballer from the lap of the mountains.

Rawat, who is also the president of Humla Football Academy, says, "While the leaders of Nepali football are busy with the World Cup in Qatar, we are teaching football at a height of 2910 meters in the lap of the mountains in minus degree cold for the development of Humla football." Humla should be known not only for tourism but also for football.

Rawat, who was about to reach his fifties, studied in Kathmandu. He learned to play football from there. When he returned home after completing SLC, he also brought a good football with him. Before that, children used to play by making cloth balls in Humla. Rawat played football at the Simikot airport after bringing the fast ball. Many people became interested in football at that time. Later, he dedicated himself to the football game. Rawat used to play football in Nepalganj.

"While the leaders of Nepali football are busy with the World Cup in Qatar, we are teaching football at a height of 2910 meters in the lap of the mountains in minus degree cold for the development of Humla football."
Also participated in the regional competition. Actively engaged in the field of tourism industry. His heart did not go beyond football. Finally, in the year 2077, Humla Football Academy was registered and he moved to Simikot with the dream of giving birth to football from the lap of the mountains. Now the Rawat-led team is promoting football activities in Simikot. They have little support from the government. However, he is playing football on his own. Some donors help. There is no dynamic football infrastructure. He is hoping for government support.

Before the Corona period, around four hundred children were given football training. Now it has reduced to 200 people. Sports materials are given by the academy itself to the children who come for training. Children are also enthusiastically taking training. Training Rawat and another training was given by Priti Bahadur Rawat. We have requested a coach from NFA. Now, two of us are giving training- President Rawat said.

The main objective of the development and expansion of football in Humla is the Humla Football Academy. Rawat has informed that Humli youths who are known locally as football players have registered an academy to unite football, football lovers and football players in the district and increased football activities.

This academy has made five districts of Karnali, Humla, Mugu, Jumla, Dolpa and Kalikot as its working area. This academy will be expanded soon. This academy has been established to take necessary initiatives, cooperation and coordination for the development and expansion of football in the Karnali region. I left many jobs and came here. We want to make Humla known not only in terms of tourism but also in the field of football," said Rawat.
