The **Grass to Grace Tournament** has become a cornerstone event for young athletes, providing a vibrant platform for showcasing their talents and dreams. This tournament, primarily organized for under-15 players, introduced the under-17 category in its fourth edition, expanding opportunities for even more young stars.
#### Historical Highlights
**First Edition:**
The inaugural tournament set the stage for future excitement. Kokwanyo Youth Academy made a powerful statement by thrashing Rising Stars from Ndhiwa. However, the host team faced an early exit in the preliminaries, setting the tone for the competitive spirit that defines the tournament.
**Second Edition:**
The tournament grew, attracting 16 teams. The semi-finals featured thrilling matches with Karabondi Rangers Academy, Pikadili Academy, Kogweno Redstars, and Bayern Academy. Kogweno Redstars emerged victorious, defeating Pikadili Academy. Bayern Academy faced a tough battle, losing to Redstars in a penalty shootout, while Pikadili Academy secured their spot in the finals by winning 4-2 on penalties against Karabondi.
**Third Edition:**
Surprises and suspense marked this edition. Bayern Academy returned with a vengeance, defeating Young Boys Academy 2-0 in the semi-finals. MOFA Academy knocked out Lions Sports Academy in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw, thanks to a late equalizer by Lions. Bayern Academy clinched the title by beating MOFA Academy 2-0 in the finals.
**Fourth Edition:**
This edition saw the introduction of the under-17 category, adding a new layer of excitement. In the under-15 category, Kokwanyo Youth Academy faced Bayern Academy in the semi-finals but lost 1-0. Lions Sports Academy was stunned by the lesser-known Miranga Academy, losing 1-0. Bayern Academy continued their dominance, winning the under-15 title by defeating Miranga 2-0.
In the under-17 category, the competition was fierce. Football Without Borders Academy knocked out Lions Sports Academy with a decisive 3-0 victory, while Bayern Academy edged out Kokwanyo Youth Academy 1-0. The finals were a nail-biting affair, with Football Without Borders emerging victorious after a 4-3 penalty shootout against Bayern.
