I agree, if someone’s giving up their free time to coach, the best way to “have a say” is to get involved and help, not just criticise from the sidelines.
Volunteers make grassroots sport possible, and unless you’re willing to roll your sleeves up too, sometimes the best thing you can do is support them however you can.
That said, we should also look to develop ourselves as much as possible as coaches.
Even if we’re volunteers, we still have a responsibility to keep learning and improving.
There are so many ways to do that, networking with other coaches, reading articles, listening to podcasts, watching sessions, or just learning through trial and error.
Development doesn’t always need funding; sometimes it just needs curiosity and effort.
