And some players leave a legacy long before their journey is over.
Today, one of our own, Kenyan international Valerie Nekesa, reminded us what it truly means to never forget where you came from.
As she stands on the brink of an exciting new chapter in Europe, Valerie returned to Madira Girls High School and generously kitted the entire team with new uniforms, ensuring the next generation of young girls can proudly wear the badge and chase their own dreams.
For many of these girls, Valerie is more than a footballer. She is living proof that dreams from Madira can reach the national team, professional football, and even the international stage. She once walked the same corridors, trained on the same grounds, and wore the same colours they wear today.
Now, as her journey prepares to cross borders, she has chosen to invest in those coming behind her.
That is leadership.
That is impact.
That is legacy.
In a football world where success can sometimes make people forget their roots, Valerie has shown that true greatness is measured not only by where you go, but also by how many people you inspire along the way. 🌍⚽
And perhaps the best way the girls could say thank you was through their performances on the pitch.
