Day Two: The Roar Grows Louder

The sun rose over Jack Taylor Stadium to a thunderous welcome. Thousands of fans streamed in from every corner of the county, drums pounding, flags waving, and chants echoing across the hills. Day Two of the Grass to Grace Tournament was nothing short of electric. The pitches were alive, the stakes were high, and the young lions delivered.

In the under-15 category, reigning champions Bayern Academy stormed into the preliminaries with a ruthless 3–0 demolition of Oyugis Town Academy. It was a performance soaked in confidence and class—clinical finishing, relentless pressing, and a backline that didn’t blink. Bayern didn’t just arrive; they announced themselves with authority.

Lions Sports Academy U15, cheered on by a sea of home fans, edged out Football Without Borders in a tense preliminary clash. A single goal was all it took, but it was a goal that carried the weight of pride, preparation, and purpose. Football Without Borders fought bravely, but the Lions roared louder when it mattered most.

Kokwanyo, last year’s U15 finalists, began their campaign with a cautious but calculated draw against a spirited Kosele Elites side. The match ended in a stalemate, but the intent was clear—Kokwanyo are back, and they’re hungry for another shot at glory.

In the under-17 showdown, Kamwala FC faced off against the ever-resilient Beavers. It was a cagey affair, but Kamwala found the breakthrough with a solitary strike that sent their supporters into a frenzy. The goal was a moment of brilliance, carved out of grit and belief.

Lions Sports Academy U17, however, endured a tough start to their preliminaries, falling 1–0 to a sharp and disciplined Nyawango side. It was a humbling opener, a reminder that in this tournament, every minute demands heart, hunger, and hustle. The Lions will be looking to bounce back with fire in their next fixture.

All three pitches are now fully activated, buzzing with life and purpose. From the referees to the volunteers, from the medics to the fans, every soul is part of something bigger than football. This is more than a tournament. It’s a movement. A memory in the making. A glimpse into the future of Kenyan football.
