Pepe has shared a powerful testimony about his departure from Real Madrid — and his unique bond with Cristiano Ronaldo:
“Cristiano asked me to stay and told me: ‘If it’s a money issue, I’ll give up part of my salary and give it to you.’
“It wasn’t that. I just wanted to experience something new.”
The former defender also recalled a striking moment after suffering a head injury:
“After a clash with Iker Casillas, I had to go to hospital. When I woke up, I remembered nothing… and I saw that Cristiano had stayed all night with my wife and my children.”
